My, oh, my how the kiddies do love the carousel!
Round and round they go on horses that might terrify them if they were
anywhere but at the circus. But even as dark as the Cirque du Nuit may be,
it's all in fun, isn't it? Isn't it? Oh, how the carousel loves the kiddies
in return.... Horses with manes built of night and ghosts race out to find
those sleeping tots who rode them round and round all day and evening,
bringing them the stuff of nightmares. They breathe in those shrieks of
terror with glee and race home before dawn to feed us all. Oh, how we love
the carousel... and how it loves us....
I've been away from pastels a very long time. (Since some time in the
80's... yikes!) In spite of that, I'm pretty happy with how this came out.
This is the second in a series called Cirque Du Nuit which will be
dark/horror circus and carnival images. I'm not sure how many there will be
in all, but I have a few ideas back stocked for them that I work on as the
mood strikes.
Tools Used: Conte a Paris Pastels (10 pack) and Colourfix Paper (black)
Time Taken: Estimated 5 hours or so
